Are you a motivated and detail-oriented finance professional looking to take the next step in your accounting career?

RMS is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join our client's exceptional fabrication company based in Darlington. This is a part-time role, 24 hours per week, on a permanent contract.

In this role, you will play a key part in the preparation and analysis of financial data, supporting the production of accurate management accounts and contributing to the financial success of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support in the preparation of monthly Management Accounts (both individual company accounts and group consolidated)
• Preparation and processing of month-end accounting adjustments including accruals, prepayments, depreciation of fixed assets, etc.
• Preparation of month-end bank and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data, with an explanation of the rationale behind each balance
• Management of the fixed assets register
• Preparation and review of monthly Contract Cost statements for live projects
• Analysis of Profit and Loss data to identify and explain variances to budget in revenue and expenses
• Assist in the preparation of the annual budget
• Preparation and analysis of monthly applications for payments and invoicing related to reimbursable contracts
• Preparation of quarterly VAT returns
• Interaction with external auditors during audits
• Establish, maintain, and implement accounting and control procedures
• Monitor and review accounting system reports for accuracy and completeness
• Handle Multi-Currency accounting, including recording, reporting, and analyzing financial statements in foreign currencies for group consolidation

Requirements:

• Full or Part Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent)
• Strong knowledge of UK GAAP accounting principles, including Long-Term Contract Accounting under FRS102 (PCM)
• Understanding of Multi-Currency, Inter-Company, and Group Consolidated accounting
• Proficiency in Excel
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Attention to detail and initiative, with strong analytical skills to interpret data
• Proactive approach to querying transactions
• Capability to manage all aspects of month-end reporting
• Excellent communication skills and a positive, approachable character
