Job summary

Russell Taylor Group is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join their growing manufacturing site in Chester. This brand-new role offers exposure across management accounting, inventory and financial reporting, with clear opportunities to develop as the business expands.

You will support monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, budgeting and variance analysis, while working closely with production, procurement and operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in an accounting/finance role with month-end duties.
• AAT qualification or studying ACCA/CIMA with employer support.
• Strong Excel skills with Pivot Tables and XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP.
• Good understanding of double-entry accounting and reconciliations.
• Experience in manufacturing or stock-based environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and reporting.
• Assist with month-end journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
• Support inventory and manufacturing accounting, including stock reconciliations.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Support audit, VAT and wider financial control activities.
• Work closely with production, procurement and operations.
• Help improve finance processes as the business grows.

Assistant Management Accountant

£42,000 Chester On-site Permanent

Join a growing manufacturing business in a brand-new role.

Due to continued growth and an increasingly busy site we are looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to join the finance team and support the Senior Management Accountant.

This is a newly created position offering excellent exposure across management accounting, manufacturing finance, inventory and financial reporting, with plenty of opportunity to develop as the business continues to grow.

What will you be doing?

• Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting
• Assisting with month-end journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
• Supporting inventory and manufacturing accounting, including stock reconciliations and variances
• Preparing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating discrepancies
• Assisting with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
• Supporting audit, VAT and wider financial control activities
• Working closely with production, procurement and operational teams
• Helping improve finance processes as the business continues to grow

What are we looking for?

• Previous experience in an accounting or finance role, with good exposure to bookkeeping and month-end processes.
• Ideally, AAT qualified or studying towards ACCA/CIMA, but this isn't essential. The business will support professional study for the right person.
• Strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP
• Good understanding of double-entry accounting and reconciliations
• Excellent attention to detail and organisation
• The confidence to work with both finance and non-finance teams
• Ideally, experience within manufacturing, engineering or another stock-based environment
