Job summary

BUUK Infrastructure is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant for a fixed-term position up to 15 months in Woolpit. The role supports payroll for construction and assists in management accounts analysis and reporting.

You will partner with operations and payroll teams, handle month-end processes, stock reconciliations, and month-end journals while ensuring SOX controls. The environment emphasizes service quality and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of month end management accounts for the construction business.
• Prepare and post month end journals.
• Prepare and analyse balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assist with resolution of queries upon review of management accounts and reconciliations.
• Assist with preparation of monthly management information packs.
• Own the processing, analysis and submission of monthly overtime and bonus calculations and ensure control accounts are reconciled and approved.
• Liaise with the construction operations department to resolve queries on operatives' overtime and bonus payments.
• Ensure sufficient controls are in place to confirm overtime and bonus submissions are accurate and comply with company SOX procedures.
• Produce monthly stock schedule which reconciles stock movements to warehouse stock counts.
• Process Van and Warehouse stock count returns received from construction supervisors.
• Prepare and post journals to allocate materials onto corresponding projects.
• Assist in organisation and coordination of year end stock count.
• Business partnering with operational and payroll departments.
• Undertake ad hoc analysis as required.
• Provide quality service standards to all internal and external customers.
• Ad hoc assignments and general analysis of payroll and management accounts.
• Evaluate all current processes for effectiveness and efficiency and help deliver improvements.

Purpose of this role

To assist the management accountant and support the team by taking ownership of preparation, analysis and submission of the construction payroll and assist in the analysis of the construction management accounts.

Qualifications

• AAT qualified or studying towards ACCA / CIMA.

Experience/Knowledge

• Experience of process improvement.
• Experience of working within Finance.

Abilities/Skills

• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.

Desirable

• ACCA / CIMA Part Qualified.
• Experience of payroll duties.
• Knowledge of Microsoft D365 and Atlas.
