Job summary

Castle Employment in Boroughbridge is helping to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant. You will build on your existing accounts experience and gain hands-on exposure to month-end, management accounts, reporting and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Support the month-end process and preparation of management accounts.
• Prepare accruals and prepayments calculations.
• Prepare and review management accounts working papers.
• Produce routine and ad hoc financial reports.
• Analyse financial performance and investigate discrepancies.
• Identify opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency.
• Support the purchase and sales ledger teams as required.
• Maintain lease documentation for site assets.
• Assist with year-end accounts and audit processes.
• Provide wider finance support and analysis as experience develops.

Are you working in finance and ready to take the next step towards management accounting?

This is a fantastic opportunity to build on your existing accounts experience and gain hands-on exposure to month-end, management accounts, financial reporting and analysis. You do not need to have worked as a Management Accountant before. What matters is that you have a solid finance foundation, an inquisitive mindset and the confidence to question the numbers when something does not look right.

Joining an established Yorkshire business and a supportive finance team, you'll work closely with the Group Management Accountant and gradually take on more responsibility as your knowledge develops. Professional study support will also be available after 12 months, making this a strong opportunity for someone looking to progress their finance career.

What you'll be doing

As Assistant Management Accountant, you'll gain exposure across the accounts cycle while developing your management accounting skills.

• Supporting the month-end process and preparation of management accounts
• Preparing accrual and prepayment calculations
• Preparing and reviewing management accounts working documents
• Producing routine and ad hoc financial reports
• Analysing financial performance and investigating discrepancies
• Identifying opportunities to improve profitability and efficiency
• Supporting the purchase ledger and sales ledger teams when required
• Maintaining lease documentation for site assets
• Assisting with year-end accounts preparation and audit processes
• Providing wider finance support and analysis as your experience develops

What we're looking for

This role could suit someone currently working as an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Assistant Accountant or in a similar finance position who is ready to broaden their experience.

You’ll need:

• A solid grounding in transactional finance or general accounting processes
• Experience maintaining accurate financial records and working with financial data
• Good Excel and Microsoft Office skills
• The ability to look beyond completing a process and question figures that do not appear right
• A curious, analytical approach and willingness to investigate discrepancies
• Good organisation skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
• A genuine interest in developing your management accounting knowledge

Previous management accounts experience is not essential, and there is no specific accounting qualification required.

Experience with accruals, prepayments, month-end processes and management accounts would be useful, but these are areas you can continue to develop within the role. Experience with Pegasus Opera 3 would also be beneficial but is not essential.

Salary, hours and benefits

£32,000 - £34,000, depending on experience

Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm
