Job summary

A leading logistics firm is seeking an Assistant Logistics Manager to develop and implement logistics plans, ensure timely deliveries, and maintain accurate inventory records. Ideal candidates will have experience in offshore oil and gas logistics, effective communication skills, and proficiency in English and technical French. This role is based in Pointe-Noire, Congo on a 6-month contract.

Overview

ASSISTANT LOGISTICS MANAGER is required by our client, an oil and gas operator, to be assigned on a contract basis, located in Pointe-Noire, Congo.

DURATION 6-months (ongoing)

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist in developing and implementing logistics plans, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution strategies
  • Organize and schedule the movement of goods, working with carriers and transportation providers to ensure timely and cost-efficient deliveries
  • Monitor inventory levels, track stock movements, and ensure accurate inventory records
  • Prepare and process shipping documents, such as bills of lading, invoices, and customs paperwork
  • Keep accurate records of shipments, inventory, and other logistics-related data
  • Identify and resolve any issues that arise during the logistics process, such as delays, damaged goods, or documentation errors
  • Communicate with internal teams, vendors, and other stakeholders to coordinate logistics activities
  • Contribute to initiatives aimed at optimizing logistics processes and improving efficiency
  • Assist with the movement of personnel to and from site, coordinating workforce rotations, and ensuring personnel are where they need to be
  • Arranging accommodation and other support services for offshore personnel
  • Ensuring all logistics operations adhere to company policies, industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental regulations
  • Other duties as required
EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
  • Understanding of logistics principles, transportation methods, and supply chain management
  • Logistics experience in the offshore oil and gas industry
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and solve problems
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with various stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in relevant software and systems, such as Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and potentially specialized logistics software
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues related to shipments, inventory, and other logistics challenges.
  • Hold up-to-date certificates Minimum Industry Safety Training (MIST).
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices
  • Fluent in technical French and English.
