Job summary

TreeHouse School, part of Ambitious about Autism, seeks an Assistant Headteacher of Inclusion, Safeguarding and DSL to join our Senior Leadership Team. You will lead safeguarding, inclusion and pupil welfare for autistic children with complex needs, providing visible leadership and ensuring effective procedures across the school.

You will work with external partners, drive staff development, and maintain a strong safeguarding culture with trauma-informed approaches.

Qualifications

• Strong safeguarding experience, ideally as a DSL or Deputy DSL.
• Understanding of autism, SEND and complex needs, with experience in an education or specialist setting preferred.
• Experience leading safeguarding teams and collaborating with external agencies.

Responsibilities

• Lead on safeguarding, inclusion and pupil welfare for autistic children with complex needs.
• Provide strategic oversight of inclusion, behaviour, wellbeing, healthcare and PBS.
• Oversee child protection, referrals and escalation, coordinating with Social Care, Health, Police and LADO.
