About the Role

We believe success looks different for every student. For some, it's achieving qualifications they never thought possible. For others, it's gaining confidence, independence, employability skills or securing a positive destination beyond school.

We're looking for an ambitious and forward-thinking Assistant Headteacher - Achievement & Careers to join our Senior Leadership Team and lead one of the most important aspects of our provision: ensuring every student leaves us equipped for a successful future.

This is an opportunity to shape whole-school strategy, drive improvement and create meaningful pathways that help young people move confidently into further education, employment and adulthood.

If you're a passionate leader who believes achievement is about more than exam results and wants to make a genuine difference to the life chances of young people with additional needs, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll be doing:
  • Lead whole-school strategy for achievement, assessment, qualifications and careers.
  • Drive improvements in student progress, attainment and destination outcomes.
  • Develop an outstanding careers and employability programme that prepares students for life beyond school.
  • Embed meaningful careers education across the curriculum.
  • Use assessment and performance data to identify priorities and raise standards.
  • Support and develop high-quality teaching and learning through coaching, monitoring and professional development.
  • Lead on qualification pathways, examinations and accreditation opportunities.
  • Contribute to school improvement planning and strategic decision-making as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team.
  • Build strong partnerships with families, employers, colleges and external agencies to expand opportunities for students.
Who we're looking for:
  • We're seeking an inspirational educational leader who combines strategic thinking with a genuine commitment to helping young people thrive.
  • Significant teaching and leadership experience within education.
  • A proven track record of driving improvement and raising outcomes.
  • Strong expertise in assessment, data analysis and school improvement.
  • Experience supporting students with SEND, including SEMH, Autism and complex needs.
  • A sound understanding of EHCPs, the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive practice.
  • The ability to inspire, coach and develop colleagues.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
  • The confidence to balance strategic leadership with day-to-day visibility across the school.
  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent.
  • QTS (desirable).
