GSL Education are seeking an experienced and dynamic Assistant Headteacher to work at a thriving and inclusive comprehensive secondary School in York, North Yorkshire starting in September 2025.

Assistant Headteacher Responsibilities:

• Lead on the strategic development and delivery of the KS4 curriculum, interventions, and assessment.
• Oversee GCSE outcomes, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning across subjects.
• Monitor pupil progress and implement effective strategies.
• Champion high expectations, supporting positive behaviour, attendance, and engagement.
• Work closely with Heads of Department, pastoral teams, and external agencies to provide holistic support to KS4 students.

Assistant Headteacher Requirements:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Proven experience of middle or senior leadership, preferably within a pastoral role.
• Strong understanding of data analysis, progress tracking, and curriculum development.
• An exceptional communicator with the ability to motivate staff and students.
• Able to model and promote the school’s values and vision across the wider community.
• Have an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one.
