Job summary

South Bromsgrove High is recruiting an Assistant Head of Year (Non-Teaching) to lead pastoral support for students and promote positive attitudes to learning, behaviour, attendance and overall wellbeing.

The role, at 37 hours per week during term time (plus 4 teacher training days), requires daily liaison with the Year Lead and Deputy Lead, and a proactive approach to behaviour, safeguarding and reintegration with parents.

Responsibilities

• Liaise daily with the Head of Year regarding behaviour, attendance, punctuality and safeguarding concerns.
• Support the implementation of the school's behaviour policy.
• Manage daily behaviour concerns and parental enquiries, responding appropriately.
• Monitor behaviour, conduct and attendance data.
• Be a visible presence around the school promoting positive behaviour.
• Responding to incidents made via the school's on-call system.
• Conduct fact-finding into behavioural incidents gathering statements and evidence.
• Support the operation of the internal suspension, supervised study and other behavioural provision.
• Work with students who fail to meet behavioural expectations.
• Support reintegration meetings with parents.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of behaviour incidents and safeguarding concerns.
• Support attendance initiatives.
• Support the Head of Year with year group administration and organisation.
