Job summary

E-ACT The Oldham Academy North is seeking an exceptional Assistant Head of Geography to lead curriculum development and raise attainment within the Geography department. You will work closely with the Head of Geography to drive high standards, monitor progress and influence whole-school improvement.

The role focuses on developing teaching quality, using data to close gaps, and supporting staff through coaching and professional development within a dynamic 11–16 academy in Oldham.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a Geography specialism.
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality teaching that secures progress.
• Strong leadership and organisational skills to support colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Support the leadership and development of the Geography department, helping to drive high standards of teaching, learning and student achievement.
• Monitor student progress and attainment, using data to identify priorities and implement strategies.
• Contribute to design and development of an ambitious Geography curriculum.
• Support quality assurance activities, including observations, learning walks and work scrutiny.
• Coach and collaborate with colleagues to share best practice and contribute to whole-school priorities.
