Job summary

Hewett Recruitment is seeking an Assistant Group Financial Accountant to join a collaborative finance team. The role offers broad exposure across group reporting, management accounts, statutory reporting, audit and tax.

You’ll work closely with the Group Accounting Manager to develop experience across multiple entities and ensure timely reporting. AAT or ACA/ACMA study, strong Excel and attention to detail are valued.

Qualifications

• AAT qualified, part-qualified, or equivalent finance experience.
• Studying ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
• Experience with month-end processes and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Proficient in Excel and financial systems.
• Analytical, organised and detail-focused with deadlines.
• Proactive team player with process-improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly group reporting and consolidation.
• Prepare journals, reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Assist with monthly management accounts.
• Complete balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations.
• Support statutory accounts preparation and year-end audit.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and reporting schedules.
• Assist VAT returns and corporation tax information.
• Support cash, treasury and bank covenant reporting.
• Assist regulatory reporting requirements.
• Investigate variances and unusual movements.
• Help improvements to finance processes and reporting.

We're recruiting for an Assistant Group Financial Accountant to join a collaborative finance team within an established and forward-thinking organisation. Working closely with the Group Accounting Manager, you'll gain broad exposure across multiple areas of finance while supporting accurate and timely reporting across a number of group entities.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting monthly group reporting and consolidation
• Preparing journals, reconciliations and supporting schedules
• Assisting with monthly management accounts
• Completing balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations
• Supporting statutory accounts preparation and the year-end audit
• Maintaining fixed asset registers and financial reporting schedules
• Assisting with VAT returns and corporation tax information
• Supporting cash, treasury and bank covenant reporting
• Assisting with regulatory reporting requirements
• Investigating variances and unusual movements
• Supporting improvements to finance processes and reporting

About you

We're looking for someone with a solid grounding in finance who is keen to continue learning and developing.

You may be:

• AAT qualified, part-qualified or have equivalent finance experience
• Studying towards ACA, ACCA or CIMA
• Experienced in month-end processes and balance sheet reconciliations
• Comfortable working with Excel and financial systems
• Analytical, organised and confident investigating discrepancies
• Detail-focused with the ability to manage competing deadlines
• A proactive team player with a positive approach to improving processes

Previous exposure to management accounts, statutory reporting, audit, multiple entities or group accounting would be advantageous, although not essential.
