Job summary

JD Gyms is seeking an Assistant General Manager to support daily operations of the club alongside the General Manager. You will help maintain high standards, lead a team of Fitness Coaches and General Assistants, and foster a welcoming environment for members.

You will drive membership growth, achieve commercial targets, coach colleagues, ensure safety checks and clean facilities, and represent JD Gyms values in all interactions.

Qualifications

• Experience leading and developing colleagues in leisure, fitness, hospitality or customer-focused environment.
• Strong commitment to delivering excellent member service.
• Must be qualified to at least Level 2 Gym Instructor.

Responsibilities

• Ensure policies and procedures in Health and Safety Employee Policy and Company Procedures Handbook are adhered to.
• Adhere to and maintain the JD Gyms Brand Standard.
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly safety checks and report defects to keep facilities safe.
• Recruit and manage a team of Fitness Coaches and General Assistants to cover daily operations.
• Hold regular team meetings to aid development and keep staff updated.
• Support the achievement of membership, revenue and commercial targets.
• Drive and maximise secondary spending revenue.
• Ensure gym facilities are clean and facilities meet high standards.
• Oversee weekly banking to minimise wastage and maximise profit.
• Ensure uniform standards across the team and yourself.
• Deliver outstanding member service through positive, professional interactions.
• Create a positive, supportive working environment for colleagues.
• Represent JD Gyms values and standards in all member/colleague interactions.

Job description

As an Assistant General Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the successful day-to-day operation of the club. Working closely with the General Manager, you will help maintain high operational standards, support colleague development and contribute to achieving membership and commercial objectives. Through effective leadership, coaching and collaboration, you will help create a positive environment for colleagues and members, ensuring the club delivers exceptional experiences, strong operational performance and a safe, welcoming environment for all. Responsibilities:

• Ensure that all policies and procedures in both the Health and Safety Employee Policy and Company Procedures Handbook are adhered to.
• Responsible for adhering to and maintaining the JD Gyms Brand Standard.
• Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly safety checks. Report and chase all defects, to ensure the building and its equipment is safe to use.
• Recruit and manage a team of employed Fitness Coaches and General Assistants to ensure the club is operational cover to ensure daily expectations are delivered.
• Hold regular team meetings to aid development and keep everyone updated.
• Support the achievement of membership, revenue and commercial targets.
• To drive and maximise secondary spending revenue.
• To ensure the whole of the gym facility is of the highest standard of cleanliness.
• Ensure the in-house cleaners (General Assistant) are cleaning to the highest standard. To manage the weekly banking process so that wastage and variance is minimal, maximising profit.
• To ensure uniform standards are being adhered to by all team members and yourself.
• Deliver outstanding member service through positive and professional interactions.
• Help create a positive, supportive and engaging working environment for colleagues.
• Represent JD Gyms values and standards in all interactions with members and colleagues. Skills and Experience:
• Experience leading and developing colleagues within a leisure, fitness, hospitality or customer-focused environment.
• Demonstrates a strong commitment to delivering excellent member service
• and be an effective leader with the ability to support, coach and develop colleagues
• Must be qualified to at least Level 2 Gym Instructor
• Experience contributing to membership growth, commercial performance and achieving business objectives and co-ordinating local marketing activity as well as of recruiting and managing a successful team.
• Experience supporting operational delivery, people leadership and commercial performance within a leisure or customer-focused environment.
