Role Overview:

Morgan Philips Specialist Recruitment is representing a leading professional services firm in their search for an Assistant General Counsel to join their in-house legal team. The candidate should be an experienced commercial lawyer with a focus on technology, data privacy, data protection, and AI. The role involves providing practical, business-focused legal advice on a global scale.

Key Accountabilities:

• Provide legal support on various legal and regulatory matters for a global professional services organization.
• Advise on technology, data privacy, data protection, AI, and related issues; support day-to-day commercial and regulatory legal matters.
• Help ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations across jurisdictions and within network policies.
• Support Technology and Risk Management teams with legal guidance.
• Develop and implement governance policies, procedures, and playbooks.
• Review and advise on new services and solutions, including governance and legal/regulatory issues related to technology, data privacy, data protection, and AI.
• Manage external legal counsel in multiple jurisdictions efficiently and cost-effectively.
• Balance practical advice with risk management and compliance obligations.
• Make presentations and publish articles on legal topics.
• Mentor and support junior team members.

About You:

• UK qualified lawyer (or equivalent outside the UK) with significant experience at a major law firm or relevant in-house experience.
• Strong legal skills with the ability to handle complex legal and regulatory issues.
• Strategic risk management skills with the ability to identify issues and suggest mitigation strategies.
• Experience negotiating, drafting, and reviewing agreements; advising on laws across multiple jurisdictions.
• Ability to work independently and manage complex cases, collaborating with business teams.
• Ability to balance legal risks with business needs in a fast-growing global environment.
• Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of working with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
