Role Overview:
Morgan Philips Specialist Recruitment is representing a leading professional services firm seeking an Assistant General Counsel for their in-house legal team. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned commercial lawyer with expertise in technology, data privacy, data protection, and AI. The role involves providing practical, business-focused legal advice globally.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide legal support on various legal and regulatory matters for a global professional services organization.
- Advise on technology, data privacy, data protection, AI, and related issues, supporting day-to-day commercial and regulatory legal matters.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations across jurisdictions and network policies.
- Support Technology and Risk Management teams with legal advice on their activities.
- Develop and implement governance and operational policies, procedures, and playbooks.
- Review and advise on new services, solutions, and governance processes, focusing on legal and regulatory issues related to technology, data privacy, data protection, and AI.
- Manage external legal counsel across jurisdictions, ensuring cost-effective and efficient work.
- Provide practical advice while managing risk and compliance obligations.
- Deliver presentations and write articles on legal topics.
- Mentor and support junior team members.
About You:
- UK-qualified lawyer or equivalent with significant experience at a major law firm or in-house role.
- Advanced legal skills with the ability to handle complex legal and regulatory issues.
- Strong risk management and strategic thinking skills.
- Experience negotiating, drafting, and reviewing agreements across multiple jurisdictions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively on complex files.
- Capable of balancing legal risk management with business growth.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work with global stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
