Job summary

Kirklees Council is hiring an Assistant Gardener to join the Parks and Greenspaces Team across Kirklees. You’ll work on maintenance of parks, housing areas, public spaces and schools, using light and heavy equipment as needed to keep spaces welcoming and safe.

The role is physically demanding, requires reliability and good teamwork, and offers generous leave, training and an excellent pension. You will be contracted to work 5 days out of 7, including weekends.

Qualifications

• Experience using heavy-duty ground maintenance machinery.
• Experience in general maintenance, horticultural and grounds work.
• Ability to communicate positively with members of the public.

Responsibilities

• a range of cleansing duties such as emptying bins, litter picking and clearing leaves
• grass cutting
• hedge trimming
• weeding
