About the Role

Our local authority client is looking for General Operatives/Assistant Gardeners to join their operations team based in York. This is a full‑time role, from Monday to Friday, 37 hours a week (with a lunchtime finish on a Friday). The assignment will run until mid‑September 2026, covering a wide variety of residential sites in York.

The hourly rate is £13.86. The role involves carrying out gardening and horticultural work/maintenance such as cutting, pruning, mowing, litter picking, sweeping, weeding, and emptying public bins. Vehicle, equipment and PPE will be provided.

Previous experience of gardening/horticulture or similar would be extremely advantageous.

Requirements

• Hold a current full UK driving licence.
• Experience in horticulture, gardening, or labouring (preferred).
• Used to working outdoors in all weathers.

• Must be able to work in the United Kingdom.
• Immediate start required (onsite inductions will be held ASAP).
