Job summary

Peter Michelle Gardening is a family-run gardening service serving residential clients across Wimbledon, Southwest London and surrounding areas. We are looking for a reliable and conscientious Assistant Gardener who shares our high standards and takes pride in delivering a professional, friendly service.

As an Assistant Gardener you will support a Gardener with day-to-day tasks in a range of gardens, helping ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.

Qualifications

• Reliable, punctual and conscientious work ethic required.
• Willingness to learn and develop gardening skills.
• Basic DBS check and right to work in the UK are expected.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with general garden maintenance.
• Weeding and border maintenance.
• Lawn mowing and lawn care.
• Basic pruning and shaping under supervision.
• Assisting with hedge cutting.
• Raking, leaf clearance and seasonal tidy-ups.
• Loading and unloading tools and materials.
• Maintaining tidy gardens and work areas.

ASSISTANT GARDENER - PETER MICHELLE GARDENING

Peter Michelle Gardening is a family-run business providing high-quality, bespoke gardening services to residential clients across Wimbledon, Southwest London and the surrounding areas.

We pride ourselves on delivering a reliable, professional and friendly service, with exceptional attention to detail. Our clients trust us to care for some of the area's finest gardens, and we're looking for a reliable and conscientious Assistant Gardener who shares those high standards.

About the Assistant Gardener Role

As an Assistant Gardener, you will work alongside a Gardener to complete scheduled work across a range of residential gardens.

You will support with the day-to-day gardening work and help ensure each garden is completed efficiently, safely and to the standard expected by Peter Michelle Gardening.

Previous professional gardening experience is beneficial but not essential. We're more interested in finding someone who is reliable, hardworking, conscientious and genuinely takes pride in their work.

Assistant Gardener Duties

• Assisting with general garden maintenance
• Weeding and border maintenance
• Lawn mowing and lawn care
• Basic pruning and shaping of shrubs and plants under supervision
• Assisting with hedge cutting
• Raking, leaf clearance and seasonal garden tidy-ups
• Loading and unloading tools and materials
• Collecting, bagging and transporting green waste
• Keeping gardens, tools and work areas clean and tidy
• Assisting with the day-to-day care and cleanliness of the company van
• Assisting with transporting green waste to disposal sites
• Working alongside the Gardener to complete the day's scheduled work
• Following all company health and safety procedures and working safely at all times
• Reporting any hazards, damaged equipment or unsafe working conditions
• Ensuring gardens are left clean, tidy and to the required standard

• Professional, polite and well-presented when working at customers' properties
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
• Physically fit and able to undertake manual work throughout the working day
• Able to work well as part of a small team
• Willingness to provide a Basic DBS check
• Right to work in the UK
• Reliable transport to and from the West Wimbledon meeting point

Health & Safety

Health and safety is extremely important to us. You will be expected to work safely at all times, use tools and equipment appropriately, identify and report hazards and never compromise safety in order to complete a job more quickly.
