Job summary

Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People in Shepshed is seeking an Assistant Furniture Delivery Service Manager to oversee the collection and delivery of donated furniture and stock from customers’ homes and local businesses. You will manage the company van’s upkeep, deliver excellent customer service, and support store sales across the East Midlands.

The role covers planning collections, supervising volunteers, and ensuring proper loading, delivery, and stock handling, with training

Qualifications

  • Excellent customer service aligned with delivery and in-store standards.
  • Ability to recruit, train and motivate volunteers.
  • Experience coordinating delivery logistics and routes.
  • Currently holds a valid driving licence and experience driving a commercial van.
  • Experience in retail or delivery service environments is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver and collect furniture and stock professionally.
  • Assist planning collections, manage volunteers, and van maintenance.
  • Coordinate corporate stock movements as needed.
  • PromoteGift Aid donations and ensure safe loading and delivery of items.

Here at Rainbows Children’s Hospice, we provide specialist palliative care and end-of-life support to over 750 Babies, Children, and Young People living with life-shortening conditions and terminal illnesses across the East Midlands. Simply put, we’re here to brighten short lives and support families, wherever they are.

As part of our retail growth, we opened an exciting new Furniture, Fashion and Donation Store in Shepshed in January of this year. Larger than our existing boutiques, this flagship-style store is now recruiting an Assistant Furniture Delivery Service Manager to help oversee the collection and delivery of donated furniture and stock from customers’ homes and local businesses.

Location:

Joining Unit to Armstrongs Mill, 173 Charnwood Rd, Shepshed, Loughborough LE12 9NN.

Due to the requirements of this role, you will be driving around the East Midlands, covering Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire, therefore, a full driving license is essential.

Hours & Salary
  • 37.5 hurs per week
  • £25,000 p/a FTE
About The Role

Assist in managing the collection and delivery of donated stock from customers and businesses to support store sales and profit targets. Take responsibility for the company van’s upkeep and deliver exceptional customer service both on-site and off.

Some of the key responsibilities include (but not limited to)
  • Deliver and collect furniture/stock professionally
  • Support the Furniture Delivery Service Manager with planning collections, managing volunteers, and van maintenance
  • Collect and distribute corporate stock as needed
  • Generate stock via social media following Rainbows’ guidelines
  • Report incidents and van damage promptly
  • Assess stock condition and communicate with customers
  • Promote and process Gift Aid donations
  • Ensure correct loading and delivery of stock
  • Assist with moving and displaying furniture to maximise sales
  • Provide store cover during management absences
  • Drive vehicles safely and follow the Highway Code
  • Promote the store and engage with the local community
  • Keep the van clean and tidy
  • Carry out PAT testing and furniture assembly (training provided)

Essential Requirements
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to implement agreed standards of service with delivery and collection service and instore
  • The ability to recruit, train and motivate volunteers.
  • Able to manage logistics of delivery service
  • Driving licence
  • Experience of driving a commercial van
Desirable Requirements
  • Previous experience in a retail environment
  • Experience of carrying and lifting furniture
  • Experience of managing customer-facing delivery service
