Purpose of role

This is an exciting role for an Assistant Financial Accountant who enjoys working independently in a fast-paced environment.

As part of the R2R function within the Global Business Services team, you will support the GBS Financial Accountants to ensure all financial, management, statutory accounting, tax, and reporting for the Devro Group of companies meet internal and external requirements. Your main responsibility will be to support a specific entity/region, but you will also support the full GBS R2R team when required.

This role requires flexible working hours during key finance deadline periods, e.g., month-end and year-end.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the GBS Financial Accountants in the timely and accurate submission of statutory financial and management accounting and reporting for the Devro Group according to reporting and legal deadlines.
  • Supporting fiscal and tax compliance reporting and submissions according to local requirements.
  • Providing support for periodic cash flow forecasts.
  • Supporting internal and external audits, including review of internal controls and policies. Supporting process improvements across the team.
  • Ensuring compliance with fiscal and statutory requirements for the Devro Group to adhere to local legislation.
  • Month-end/year-end reporting for the Devro Group, including management accounts, operating expenses, group projects, exceptional items, taxation, and miscellaneous income and expenses.
  • Collaborating with GBS teams to ensure accurate reporting of I2C and P2P processes for efficient period close.
  • Communicating regularly with site leadership and group finance.
  • Developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures for accurate and timely financial statements.
  • Protecting company assets by enforcing controls and policies.
  • Completing monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations.
  • Proactively communicating deviations from expected financial performance.
  • Driving best practices across the global R2R team and the business.
  • Providing support for ad-hoc reporting and analysis requested by Devro businesses.

About you

  • An accountancy qualification is desirable, e.g., working towards ACA/ACCA/ACMA.
  • Approximately 3 years’ experience in a fast-paced financial/management accounting role is desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to re-prioritize, organize, and manage workload to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and on own initiative.
  • Collaborative team-player with excellent people skills.
  • IT literate with Excel skills and experience with finance systems, preferably JD Edwards.
