Job summary

Univar Solutions is seeking an Assistant Financial Accountant in Bradford. You will own financial activities for our EMEA entities, reporting to the Financial Controller and collaborating with the Controllership team in a fast-paced environment.

The role offers full study support for CIMA or ACCA qualifications, with a hybrid work arrangement and on-site presence in Bradford three days a week after probation. This is an excellent platform to develop in finance with growth potential.

Qualifications

• Fluency in European language(s) required.
• Desire to start or continue a professional accountancy qualification with full study support.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise in a fast‑moving environment.
• Confidence to work independently while collaborating within the Controllership team.
• Proactive mindset and enthusiasm for finance.
• Experience using SAP is preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Performing balance sheet reconciliations
• Supporting the month-end close process
• Preparing and processing journal entries
• Ensuring compliance with SOX and internal controls
• Contributing to specialist streams (GRNI, Fixed Assets, VAT, Leases)
• Supporting ad-hoc finance activities and continuous improvement

Assistant Financial Accountant

The role provides a strong platform for personal and professional growth, with clear development pathways and full study support for your accounting qualifications. Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will take ownership of the financial activities for our EMEA entities, while also working closely with the wider Controllership team. What You’ll Do:

• Performing balance sheet reconciliations
• Supporting the month‑end close process
• Preparing and processing journal entries
• Ensuring compliance with SOX requirements and internal controls
• Contributing to one of our specialist technical streams
  • GRNI, Fixed Assets, VAT, and Leases
• Supporting the team with ad‑hoc finance activities and continuous improvement initiatives

What You’ll Need:

• Fluency in Eurpoean language(s) (required)
• A desire to start or continue a professional accountancy qualification (CIMA or ACCA) full study support provided
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise in a fast‑moving environment
• Confidence to work independently while also collaborating effectively within the Controllership team

Where You'll Work:

This is a hybrid role located in Bradford. Candidates will be required to be on site 3 days a week (Probation period will be 5 days a week).
