Job summary

Housing Associations Limited invites applications for an Assistant Finance Officer to join the Homes for Life team in East Lothian. The role provides accounting support to the Finance Manager, including posting invoices, processing payments, and performing reconciliations.

You will handle prepayments and accrual journals, assist with audits, and work with IT systems to keep financial processes running smoothly. Hybrid working with a 24-hour week is offered.

Qualifications

• Experience providing accounting support, ideally in social housing.
• Able to work at pace, accurately and methodically, with good stakeholder relationships.
• Qualifications: Higher Level or equivalent, ideally with an HNC in Accounting.

Responsibilities

• Post purchase invoices and assist fortnightly payment process.
• Monthly reconciliation of bank and control accounts.
• Assist Finance Manager with prepayments and accrual journals.
• Support internal and external audit requirements.
• Familiar with IT systems and maintaining financial records.

Job description

This is an excellent opportunity for the right individual to join our Homes for Life staff team. We are looking for a self-motivated, experienced Assistant Finance Officer to join our dedicated team of individuals providing first class services to our tenants, service users and other stakeholders. As Assistant Finance Officer you will provide accounting support to HfL’s Finance Manager along with the wider HfL’s Team through a variety of financial tasks. This includes posting all purchase invoices, preparing the fortnightly payment process, monthly reconciliation of all bank and control accounts, assisting the Finance Manager with prepayments and accrual journals, Assisting with internal and external audit requirements. You’ll become familiar with our IT systems and form a key part of the business, helping all things finance run things smoothly and efficiently.
You’ll have experience of providing accounting support, ideally in the social housing sector, able to work at pace, accurately and methodically and build good working relationships in the process.
Qualified to Higher Level or equivalent, ideally with an HNC in Accounting with excellent communication, IT and accounting skills.

Part Time: 24 hours per week
EVH Grade 5: PA13 to PA16 FTE (£31,792 - £35,332 Pro Rata) first point of grade at commencement date
Flexitime Scheme
