Job summary

The University of Nottingham is seeking a Finance Analyst within the Professional Services Financial Management Team to support financial reporting and management accounting across multiple portfolios of the university. The role focusses on budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and balance sheet reconciliations in a hybrid working environment.

The Professional Services Financial Management Team act as a trusted business partner and advisor in financial reporting and financial management to all Professional Services departments across the university.


This role reports to the Finance Manager for a specific portfolio of Professional Service departments and will be responsible for and be primary point of contact for their day to day operational and financial management. You will have experience of, or the ability to;



  • Build relationships and influence stakeholders across an organisation

  • Prepare detailed budgets, project costings and forecasts

  • Compile monthly management accounts

  • Analyse and explain variances to budget / forecast

  • Calculate and process accruals / prepayments and other accounting data entry

  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations

  • Provide general support to the wider Professional Services Financial Management team

This role is available on a fixed term basis for 12 months. Hours of work are full time (36.25 hours); however applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 29 hours per week). Please specify in your application if you wish to work part time and the number of preferred hours.


Requests for secondment from internal candidates may be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.
