Job summary

CRA Legal in Wakefield invites applications for an Assistant Fee Earner - Grade C to join the serious injury team. The role focuses on managing a portfolio of serious injury claims, including road traffic accidents with case values up to £1 million.

The successful candidate will support the lead fee earner, undertake chargeable work, draft statements and schedules of loss, and liaise with clients and experts across England and Wales. Hybrid, full-time, permanent position.

Role: Assistant Fee Earner
Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire
Salary: £33,000 - £44,000
Contract: Full time, permanent, hybrid

We are working with a leading law firm based in Wakefield who are looking to appoint an Assistant Fee Earner - Grade C to join their serious injury team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced legal professional to join an established team handling a complex and varied caseload of claimant serious injury matters.

The role

The successful candidate will support the management of a portfolio of serious injury claims, predominantly involving road traffic accidents. Matters can involve complex issues around liability, causation and quantum, with claim values typically ranging from £200,000 to £1 million.
Key responsibilities will include:

• 
  Supporting the lead fee earner with the progression and management of serious injury claims.
• 
  Taking responsibility for agreed elements of cases and ensuring they progress efficiently.
• 
  Undertaking chargeable legal work and conducting legal research.
• 
  Reviewing evidence and assisting with issues relating to liability, causation and quantum.
• 
  Drafting statements, pleadings, schedules of loss and other legal documentation.
• 
  Liaising with clients and maintaining regular communication throughout the claim.
• 
  Working with a range of experts and professionals, including medical experts, case managers, care experts, accountants, architects and counsel.
• 
  Assisting with interim payments, rehabilitation and settlement negotiations.
• 
  Maintaining accurate case records and ensuring the case management system is kept up to date.
• 
  Supporting client meetings, conferences and settlement meetings.
• 
  Contributing to the development of junior colleagues and the wider team where appropriate.

About you

We are keen to hear from experienced legal professionals with a background in serious injury work. You should have a strong understanding of complex personal injury claims and be comfortable working with clients, experts and other professional stakeholders.
You will ideally have:

  Experience assisting with or managing serious injury claims.

  Strong communication, negotiation and organisational skills.

  Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.

  Experience using case management systems and Microsoft Word and Excel.
