Job summary

Global University Systems (GUS) is an international education group empowering students to transform their lives through education. As an Assistant Facilities Manager, you will support the Building Manager in the day-to-day operation of university campus buildings to create a safe, welcoming and high-performing environment for students, staff and visitors.

Your role covers health, safety and compliance activities, contractor management, records maintenance and contributing to campus improvements

Qualifications

  • FM qualification or equivalent practical experience.
  • Health & Safety qualification or willingness to work towards one.
  • Experience in facilities, estates, property or building services.
  • Strong customer service, stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Good understanding of facilities management and workplace health & safety.
  • Strong organisational and MS Office skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities and work proactively.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for facilities-related enquiries, delivering excellent customer service to students, staff, visitors and stakeholders.
  • Support the day-to-day operation of campus buildings, overseeing maintenance activities, contractor performance and essential services.
  • Assist with health, safety and compliance activities, including inspections, audits and risk assessments.
  • Maintain accurate facilities records, compliance documentation and management system data.
  • Contribute to building improvement, refurbishment and operational projects.

As an Assistant Facilities Manager, you will support the Building Manager in the day-to-day operation of university campus buildings, helping to ensure a safe, compliant, welcoming, and high-performing environment for students, staff, and visitors. Summary Of Role
  • Act as the first point of contact for facilities-related enquiries, delivering excellent customer service to students, staff, visitors and stakeholders.
  • Support the day-to-day operation of campus buildings, overseeing maintenance activities, contractor performance and essential facilities services including cleaning, security and waste management.
  • Assist with health, safety and compliance activities, including inspections, audits, statutory testing, risk assessments and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain accurate facilities records, compliance documentation and management system data, while supporting budgeting, reporting and sustainability initiatives.
  • Contribute to building improvement, refurbishment and operational projects, identifying opportunities to enhance service quality, efficiency and the campus experience.
Requirements
Essential
  • Facilities Management qualification, apprenticeship, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Health & Safety qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
  • Experience within facilities, estates, property or building services.
  • Strong customer service, stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Good understanding of facilities management and workplace health & safety.
  • Strong organisational, administrative and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities, solve problems and work proactively.
Desirable
  • NEBOSH General Certificate and/or IWFM membership.
  • Experience in higher education, commercial office or multi-occupancy environments.
  • Experience using CAFM systems and supporting health & safety compliance.
  • Knowledge of hard and soft FM services, contractor management and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Experience working with Building Management Systems (BMS).
