Job summary

GVR Solutions are a specialist drylining and joinery fit-out contractor delivering high-quality projects across the commercial fit out sector. They are looking to appoint an Assistant Estimator to join their commercial team as growth continues.

The role supports the preparation of competitive tenders, reviews drawings and specifications, performs take-offs, obtains supplier quotes and helps price labour, materials and plant.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an estimating, quantity surveying or commercial role within construction.
• Good understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisation.
• Good communication skills and the confidence to liaise with suppliers and subcontractors.
• A willingness to learn and develop within a specialist contracting environment.
• The ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tenders effectively.
• Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of accurate and competitive tenders.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
• Take-offs and measurement of drylining, partitioning, ceilings and joinery works.
• Obtain and assess quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Assist with pricing labour, materials, plant and associated costs.
• Prepare tender summaries and supporting documentation.
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and clients to obtain pricing and clarify requirements.
• Assist with identifying project risks, exclusions and opportunities.
• Maintain accurate estimating records and tender databases.
• Support the Estimating Manager/Senior Estimator through the tender process.
• Assist with post-tender negotiations and revisions where required.
• Build knowledge of market rates, materials and construction methodologies.
