Job description

Westlakes Recruit are currently recruiting for an Assistant Estimator to be engaged on a permanent basis. Candidates will ideally be based in Suffolk and hybrid working will be supported.

Key responsibilities will be:

1. Assist in the preparation and underpinning of cost estimates, considering budget, time, scope, and uncertainties, in accordance with Programme Office and Estimating Procedures.
2. Review existing estimates for compliance with standards and procedures, recommending improvements as necessary. Report to the client Site Lead and be accountable for project delivery to the client.
3. Develop good communication and organisational skills to build relationships, maintain networks, and focus on results with a team-centered approach.

Qualifications

1. Minimum of HNC/HND in an Engineering discipline or relevant experience; MACostE is desirable.
2. Understanding of estimate strategies through a gated project process, including investment strategy and feasibility studies.
3. Assist in developing and using Project Control Structures (CBS, OBS, WBS, etc.).
4. Work with the project planner to ensure alignment between estimate and Project Plan.
5. Analyze historical cost data for benchmarking and informing estimates at each project phase.
6. Participate in reviews to validate estimates from internal and external sources.
7. Support the Project Risk Management process and assist in producing Project Risk Logs.
8. Support estimate uncertainty and event risk analysis to provide contingency recommendations.
9. Contribute to tender review processes, including claim evaluations and significant change valuations.
10. Assist in developing and maintaining standards and procedures for the Estimating & Risk Group.
11. Contribute to drafting and updating Project Documents to include relevant estimate data for controlling schedule, costs, and variances.
12. Communicate effectively at all management levels and produce monthly reports with analysis and insights.
