About The Opportunity

Amentum is recruiting an Assistant Estimator to join our Engineering and Technical Services team supporting our key client EDF Nuclear Generation with their nuclear fleet in the UK.

This is a vital role within our project and engineering portfolio across the UK, supported and mentored by experienced project engineering management professionals. You will have opportunities to develop your project controls skills and leadership competencies with larger, more complex projects.

You will be based on-site at EDF’s Sizewell B location, supporting multiple projects focused on nuclear defueling and decommissioning. Since 1995, Sizewell B has generated 250 TWh of zero-carbon electricity, enough to power every home in Suffolk for 192 years or remove 42 million cars from UK roads for a year. Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting the preparation and underpinning of cost estimates considering budget, scope, and uncertainties, in line with Programme Office and Estimating Procedures.
• Reviewing existing estimates for compliance and recommending improvements.
• Developing good communication and organizational relationships, maintaining effective networks, and being results-focused with a team-centered approach.

Qualifications

• Minimum of HNC/HND in an Engineering discipline or relevant experience; MACostE is desirable.
• Understanding of developing estimate strategies through a gated project process, including investment and feasibility estimates.
• Experience with Project Control Structures (CBS, OBS, WBS, etc.).
• Ability to work with project planners to align estimates with project plans.
• Experience analyzing historical cost data for benchmarking and informing estimates.
• Participation in reviews to validate estimates from internal and external sources.
• Involvement in project risk management and preparation of risk logs.
• Support for estimate uncertainty and risk analysis, including contingency recommendations.
• Contributing to tender reviews, claim evaluations, and change valuations.
• Assisting in developing and maintaining standards and procedures for estimating and risk management.
• Ability to produce monthly reports with insightful analysis at all management levels.
