Job summary

Future Prospects Group is recruiting an Assistant Engineer on a full-time, permanent basis near Newark/Mansfield with UK travel. You will work alongside experienced service engineers to maintain client systems, gaining hands-on experience with filters, UV disinfection, control panels, pumps and valves.

This role offers full technical training, funded qualifications such as CSCS, Working at Height and Confined Space Entry, and clear progression toward an Apprentice Field Service Engineer role.

Qualifications

• A genuine interest in electrical systems, pumps, plumbing, or mechanical controls.
• Willing to travel nationwide and stay away up to three nights per week.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a practical, hardworking approach.
• Good computer literacy with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Travelling nationwide alongside experienced service engineers to maintain and service customers' systems.
• Assisting with routine servicing, remedial works, and repairs across components including filters, UV disinfection units, control panels, pumps, and valves.
• Developing hands-on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering skills on a daily basis through practical on-the-job training.
• Carrying out technical safety checks.
• Adhering to strict site health and safety standards.
• Completing mandatory documentation accurately, including site safety checklists, confined space entry forms, and activity logs on the company CRM.
• Supporting head office operations by assisting with vehicle checks, workshop inventory, and equipment preparation between site visits.
• Delivering outstanding customer service on client sites and representing the business in a professional manner at all times.

THE ROLE

• A full UK driving licence and the willingness to travel nationwide, staying away from home up to three nights per week.


• A genuine interest in or foundational knowledge of electrical systems, pumps, plumbing, or mechanical controls.


• Strong problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and a practical, hardworking approach to physical tasks.


• Good computer literacy with confidence using standard Microsoft Office applications.


• An eagerness to learn and undertake fully funded qualifications, including CSCS, Working at Height, and Confined Space Entry.
