APEM is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Ecologist to join their Terrestrial Ecology team. This hybrid role offers the chance to engage in meaningful conservation projects, conduct fieldwork, and develop essential skills in species identification and ecological surveying. Candidates should possess a relevant degree and a passion for the environment, with opportunities for career growth and personal development.
Are you a recent graduate or early-career ecologist with a passion for terrestrial ecology? Do you enjoy getting outdoors and conducting fieldwork to protect Britain's habitats and wildlife? Are you looking to develop your species identification skills while contributing to meaningful conservation projects?
Due to a recent promotion, we are seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Ecologist to support our busy Terrestrial Ecology team. This hybrid role involves home, office, and site-based work. Our long-standing contracts cover ecological surveys across the South Midlands and South Wales regions, including Carmarthenshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, and Oxfordshire.
In this position, you will assist with various terrestrial ecology surveys, such as Phase 1 and UKHab habitat surveys, Preliminary Roost Assessments, and protected species work (bats, great crested newts, dormice, and more). You will also support data analysis, reporting, and ecological mapping using GIS. Working within a friendly and experienced team, you'll gain practical experience on real projects for high-profile clients and develop a broad skillset guiding you toward a Consultant Ecologist role.
We offer the opportunity to work on diverse projects, many of which align with personal interests. We are committed to your ongoing development and learning, supporting your career growth. Benefits include private medical insurance, access to mental health first aiders, comprehensive income protection, and flexible working arrangements to promote work-life balance.
We value diversity and inclusion. Even if you don't meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply. We are open to part-time roles or supporting skill development to fit individual needs. If you're ready to join our growing team, please apply via our website with your CV and basic information. We review applications promptly and will respond to all applicants.
