Job summary

Archer UK is seeking an Assistant Driller to join the team on a full-time, permanent basis. The role is based in the North Sea, out of Dyce, on a 3/3 offshore rotation.

You will assist the Driller, supervise crews on the skid deck and wellhead areas, and help ensure operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and professionally through the rig’s life cycle. Responsibilities include preparing tools, maintaining records, monitoring BOP systems, and enforcing Permit-to-Work procedures.

Qualifications

  • Must have relevant offshore drilling experience in the North Sea.
  • IWCF Well Control Supervisor Level 3.
  • BOSIET or FOET with CA-EBS.
  • MIST training.
  • OPITO Working at Height Level 2.
  • OEUK Medical standard.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise personnel in skid deck and wellhead areas.
  • Assist and relieve the Driller to ensure safe, efficient operations.
  • Prepare tools and equipment for well operations and maintain records.
  • Carry out daily checks on BOP control unit and status.
  • Maintain daily drilling records and handovers.

Job description

Archer is currently actively recruiting for back to back Assistant Drillersto join the team on a full-time, permanent basis.

We will be supporting our client by deploying a new buildcompactworkover rig to support the P&A activities on their asset. Thisis an exciting opportunity to be involved in the newbuild compact workover rig throughout the manufacture, testing, mobilisation and operations. This will include supporting offshore operations to reinstate existing platform systems and prepare the platform to integrate the compactworkover rig onto the platform.

The Assistant Driller will Assist the Driller and aid in ensuring operations are undertaken safely, efficiently and professionally.

The successful candidates will work in the North Sea out of Dyce on a 3/3 rotation.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Supervision and direction of personnel working in skid deck and wellhead areas.
  • Assist and relieve the Driller as necessary in supervising all work carried out on the drilling unit, ensuring that such work is carried out efficiently and in compliance with authorised operating procedures and Company Safety Policy.
  • Assist in preparing all tools and equipment required for well operations. Maintain accurate records of tubulars run in the hole including pipe tally, full BHA/completion components and critical fishing dimensions e.g. ID/OD and connections.
  • Carry out daily checks as required (e.g. BOP Control Unit and BOP status checks).
  • Assist with maintenance, repair or replacement tasks in accordance with Company's Planned Preventative Maintenance System.
  • Ensure accurate and complete handovers and assist in maintaining daily drilling records.
  • Direct the personnel under their authority in the practical steps to ensure that all work areas are maintained in a clean, tidy and safe condition and all working practices employed are safe.
  • Along with Derrickman operate, monitor, repair and maintain mud pumps and the entire drilling fluid circulation system, including pumps, fluid lines, shale shakers and mud tanks.
  • Supervise the monitoring of drilling fluids and mud testing.
  • Understand and maintain BOP control system, check reservoir fluid and accumulator bottle pressure.
  • Evaluate all work to be carried out to the requirements of the Permit-to-Work system, initiate Permits-to-Work as necessary and ensure that all safety precautions are taken and work is only carried out as stated in the Permit-to-Work.
  • Responsible for the supervision of personnel engaged in activities in their area of responsibility or for which they have been allocated responsibility by their supervisor.
  • Monitor, supervise and coach any Service company or Vendor company representatives that may be involved in the operations on the rig.
Requirements:
  • Must have relevant experience in a similar Driller offshore role in the North Sea.
  • IWCF Well Control Supervisor Level 3.
  • BOSIET or FOET with CA-EBS.
  • MIST.
  • OPITO Working at Hight level 2.
  • OEUK Medical.
  • Passenger Shoulder Measurement.
  • Right to work in the UK essential.
