Job summary

Kier Design, part of Kier Group, is seeking an Assistant Engineer - Drainage and Water to join the Exeter, Ipswich, or Salford team. The role involves support for drainage and water design projects within a multidisciplinary design environment, with a focus on developing technical skills and contributing to successful project delivery.

You will work on routine tasks, produce calculations, drawings, reports, and CAD models, and participate in site visits and investigations.

Qualifications

• Experience producing engineering calculations, drawings, reports and models in Drainage and Water design.
• Knowledge of relevant design standards, regulations, and QA processes.
• Ability to undertake site visits, surveys, and desk-based research to inform design outputs.
• Detail-oriented with high accuracy in completing tasks.
• Strong communicator who collaborates with multi-disciplinary teams and holds a Full driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Produce routine engineering calculations for Drainage and Water tasks with accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare and update design drawings, schematics, reports, specifications, and compliance documentation.
• Assist in developing and reviewing hydraulic, hydrological, or CAD models.
• Support site visits, surveys, and investigations, recording findings to inform design.
• Undertake research, data gathering, and technical reviews to support design compliance and identify risks.
