AtkinsRéalis provides drainage design services to Highway, Rail, Private Developer, Energy and Water markets with key clients such as HS2, Highways England, and Network Rail, along with many UK water companies. Due to growing workload, we are looking to strengthen our teams across the UK.

We require Senior Drainage Engineers to join our teams from various locations. We seek strong collaborators capable of supporting local teams and delivering remote projects as part of our national Practice.

You will play a key role in designing drainage infrastructure, transportation, and private development projects, focusing on highway drainage and SuDS. You will also support the development of our drainage capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading drainage design from concept to detailed design and construction, independently or within multidisciplinary schemes.
  • Promoting digital solutions and BIM integration in drainage design.
  • Reviewing and assuring the quality of drainage designs, models, calculations, and drawings.
  • Managing design tasks, delivery timelines, and budgets.
  • Supporting the development of graduates and technicians.
  • Ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Developing stakeholder relationships to support design and consent processes.
  • Enhancing local drainage design capabilities.
  • Leading interface management and technical assurance within our Global Design Centre.
  • Advocating for drainage within multidisciplinary projects.
  • Mentoring team members and contributing to bid preparations.

Requirements:

  • Qualified with ICE, CIWEM, or equivalent.
  • Experience designing all drainage aspects from concept to detailed design.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic software, 3D design, and BIM.
  • Ability to prepare reports, specifications, and gather data for technical reports.
  • Client-focused with understanding of market drivers.
  • Self-motivated, capable of working independently and within teams.
  • Experienced in managing project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
  • Flexible, detail-oriented, proactive, and deadline-driven.
  • Supportive mentor to less experienced staff.
  • Strong leadership qualities and private/public sector experience.
