Job summary

VanRath, partnering with a leading professional services firm in Belfast, is seeking an experienced Assistant Director to join its growing Deal Advisory team within Turnaround & Restructuring.

You will advise businesses, lenders and other stakeholders across challenging situations, lead engagements from inception to completion, and help grow the restructuring offering across the island of Ireland and the wider UK market.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA or equivalent).
• Strong experience in restructuring, insolvency or turnaround advisory.
• Experience managing assignments and teams.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
• Confident with engaging with clients, lenders and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage turnaround and restructuring assignments from engagement through to completion.
• Advise clients experiencing financial distress and those approaching formal insolvency.
• Work across corporate insolvency, administrations and wider restructuring situations.
• Undertake Independent Business Reviews and bank reviews.

VANRATH is delighted to be partnering with a leading professional services firm to recruit an experienced Assistant Director to join its growing Deal Advisory team in Belfast.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified restructuring professional to join an established all-island team, working alongside experienced specialists across Turnaround & Restructuring, Corporate Finance, Strategy and Transaction Services.

The Role

As Assistant Director, you will play a key role within the Turnaround & Restructuring team, advising businesses, lenders and other stakeholders across a broad range of financially and operationally challenging situations.
The role offers genuine advisory exposure, with the opportunity to take ownership of assignments, manage teams and develop strong client relationships across Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and the wider UK market.

What You Will Do

• Lead and manage turnaround and restructuring assignments from initial engagement through to completion.
• Advise clients experiencing financial distress and those approaching formal insolvency.
• Work across corporate insolvency, administrations and wider restructuring situations.
• Undertake Independent Business Reviews, bank reviews and other advisory assignments.
• Work closely with lenders, management teams, shareholders and other professional advisers.
• Manage and develop junior team members, providing coaching and technical mentoring.
• Build strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
• Contribute to business development and the continued growth of the restructuring offering.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the wider Deal Advisory practice on cross-service-line engagements.

Requirements

• Professionally qualified accountant, ideally ACA, ACCA or equivalent.
• Strong experience within restructuring, insolvency or turnaround advisory.
• Experience managing assignments and teams.
• Strong technical understanding of restructuring and insolvency matters.
• Confident communicator with the ability to engage effectively with clients, lenders and senior stakeholders.
• Commercially minded with an interest in business development.
• Strong leadership, coaching and mentoring skills.
• A credible professional profile and the ability to operate confidently at Assistant Director level.
