Full Time, Hybrid (Tues and Thurs in office)

Summary of Main Purpose of Role

The Assistant Director of Data & Assurance will deliver activities to enhance and protect NCG through an assurance offer that exceeds traditional Internal Audit. Working under the Director of Assurance & Risk, this role will deliver assurance and risk activities beyond the internal audit plan, adding value and supporting NCG's strategy and objectives.

The role also involves maintaining high data protection standards across NCG. It is a varied, hands-on role supporting risk, assurance, and data protection activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Director of Business Assurance & Risk in conducting high-quality advisory reviews to support management, ensuring adherence to professional standards.
• Lead planning, scoping, and feedback meetings with senior stakeholders for risk, assurance, and advisory activities.
• Document work to high standards, complying with professional standards.
• Collaborate with assurance partners, overseeing the internal audit plan delivery.
• Seek ways to modernise the assurance offer, including using IT/Data analytical tools.
• Follow up on recommendations proactively.
• Coach and mentor junior staff, providing support as needed.
• Build positive relationships with NCG staff, promoting the value of assurance.
• Prepare high-quality Audit and Risk Committee papers with minimal rework.
• Investigate and respond to data security incidents, overseeing related actions.
• Support the Data Protection Compliance Officer in handling information requests and legal requests.
• Oversee progress against the ICO’s Accountability Framework, working with stakeholders to improve compliance.
