Job summary

Moody’s invites applications for Assistant Director - Data Science (Machine Learning Engineering) in London. The role leads design, development and deployment of AI and ML solutions, collaborating with product and engineering to translate client needs into data science initiatives.

You will own model selection, experimentation, and governance, applying ML methods to real business challenges while driving responsible AI practices.

Qualifications

• Experience in data science, ML or applied AI projects and collaborating with data scientists and engineers.
• Hands-on experience building, training, and evaluating ML and DL models, incl. transformers.
• Strong Python programming and production deployment of ML models.
• Experience using AI coding assistants and agentic tools.
• Strong knowledge of LLMs, prompting, RAG and evaluation techniques.
• Experience with agentic AI frameworks/libraries in Python (e.g., AWS Bedrock AgentCore, LangChain).
• Ability to own full model development lifecycle from framing to monitoring.
• Ability to explain complex modeling to senior leaders and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development and delivery of AI/ML/GenAI solutions for clients and product capabilities.
• Collaborate with product, engineering and business stakeholders to translate needs into DS initiatives.
• Own model selection, experimentation, validation and production readiness.
• Identify opportunities for automation and model-based enhancements.
• Foster best practices in coding, ML ops and software engineering.
