Job summary

Belfast City Council is seeking an Assistant Digital Analyst to support digital infrastructure and cyber security within the Digital Services team. You will work on Cloud Services & Server Administration or Cyber Security, developing your technical expertise while delivering reliable IT services to the public.

You will be involved in supporting enterprise systems, documenting configurations, and collaborating with experienced analysts on future technology projects.

Qualifications

  • Five GCSEs (A-C), including English.
  • ICT training programme or 1 year of IT/IS work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Council's digital infrastructure and ensure security, reliability and efficiency.
  • Assist in server administration, cloud services and cybersecurity tasks.
  • Provide technical support to colleagues and contribute to documentation.
  • Participate in digital projects and develop technical knowledge across technologies.
  • Help maintain secure, resilient IT services for internal users.

What You'll Be Doing

As an Assistant Digital Analyst, you'll play a key role in supporting the Council's digital infrastructure and ensuring our technology services remain secure, reliable and efficient.

Depending on your placement, you'll work within either:

Cloud Services & Server Administration
  • Support physical and virtual server infrastructure
  • Administer operating systems and backup environments
  • Help maintain both on-premise and cloud-hosted services
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise critical systems
  • Contribute to infrastructure improvements and future technology projects
Cyber Security
  • Support enterprise security systems and technologies
  • Assist in managing firewalls and security applications
  • Help protect Council systems against cyber threats
  • Monitor security alerts and investigate potential incidents
  • Contribute to maintaining a secure digital environment across the organisation

Alongside your specialist area, you'll also:

  • Provide technical support to colleagues across Council sites
  • Help deliver reliable IT services and excellent customer support
  • Assist with system configuration, implementation and documentation
  • Work with experienced analysts on exciting digital projects
  • Develop your technical knowledge across a wide range of technologies
  • Contribute ideas that improve services and enhance user experience

Essential Requirements

You must have:

  • Five GCSEs (Grades A-C), including English (or equivalent)
AND EITHER
  • Successfully completed an ICT training and development programme designed to prepare candidates for a career in Information Technology
OR
  • At least one year's relevant experience in Information Systems or Information Technology.
Desirable Experience

Applications will be particularly welcomed from candidates with experience in:

Server Administration
  • Server configuration and support

Cyber Security
  • Security administration

  • Endpoint security

A relevant third-level IT qualification is also desirable.
