This opportunity will see you joining a flagship, multi-stage data centre development currently progressing through Stage 4 design, with enabling works scheduled for Q4 2026 and main construction works commencing in Q2 2027.
For an ambitious design professional looking to accelerate their career, this represents an outstanding opportunity to gain exposure to a major mission-critical development from the early design stages through to construction and eventual handover.
As Assistant Design Manager, you'll become an integral part of an experienced design management team, supporting the successful coordination and delivery of design information throughout the project lifecycle.
Working closely with Senior Design Managers, consultants, specialist subcontractors and operational teams, you'll help ensure design information is fully coordinated, technically compliant and delivered in accordance with agreed programmes.
You'll support the management of design deliverables, monitor programme performance, coordinate technical submissions and assist with design reviews, RFIs and approvals.
A key part of your role will involve helping to resolve design queries, coordinating information between multiple disciplines and ensuring the design process supports efficient and successful construction delivery.
You'll also gain valuable exposure to Building Regulations, CDM requirements, Safety in Design principles and the technical complexities associated with major data centre construction.
Importantly, this is an opportunity to develop your technical knowledge and commercial awareness while learning directly from experienced design management professionals on a flagship project.
You’ll already have some experience working within a construction, engineering, architectural or multidisciplinary design environment and be looking to take the next step in your career.
You may currently be working as an Assistant Design Manager, Design Coordinator, Architectural Technologist, Assistant Technical Coordinator or Graduate Design Manager.
You’ll be highly organised, technically curious and confident communicating with consultants, subcontractors and wider project teams.
An understanding of construction design processes, technical documentation, Building Regulations and design coordination would be advantageous.
Ideally, you’ll hold a degree, HNC or equivalent qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or a related discipline, although relevant industry experience will also be considered.
Previous data centre experience is not essential. We’re equally interested in ambitious individuals from main contracting, architectural practices, engineering consultancies or specialist construction backgrounds who are keen to develop within the rapidly expanding mission‑critical sector.
