Job summary

Walker & Sloan are seeking an experienced Senior Construction Manager to lead day-to-day delivery on a major data centre project in West London. You’ll coordinate with the Project Director, design managers and specialist subcontractors to drive programme performance while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality and delivery.

The Opportunity

As Senior Construction Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in overseeing the day-to-day construction delivery of a major data centre development in West London.

Working closely with the Project Director, Project Managers, Design Managers and specialist subcontractors, you’ll take responsibility for coordinating construction activities, driving programme performance and ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality and operational delivery.

You’ll be instrumental in managing the interface between multiple construction disciplines, ensuring that complex packages are delivered efficiently, safely and in accordance with project requirements.

With the technical challenges associated with major mission-critical developments, this position offers significant autonomy, responsibility and the opportunity to make a genuine impact on project success.

The Role

You’ll lead and coordinate site construction activities, ensuring works are delivered in line with agreed programmes, technical specifications and quality standards.

Working alongside the wider project leadership team, you’ll manage specialist subcontractors, oversee construction sequencing and logistics, monitor progress and proactively identify risks that could impact programme delivery.

A key part of your role will involve coordinating the interface between civil, structural, architectural and MEP packages, ensuring effective collaboration between all parties.

You’ll also work closely with design and commercial teams to resolve technical challenges, support procurement and ensure construction activities are fully aligned with the wider project strategy.

Above all, you’ll promote a strong culture of health, safety and quality, providing clear leadership to site teams and maintaining the highest standards throughout the construction lifecycle.

About You

You’ll be an established Senior Construction Manager, Construction Manager or experienced Senior Site Manager with a proven track record delivering major construction projects for a recognised main contractor.

You’ll possess excellent operational leadership skills, strong technical knowledge and the confidence to manage complex construction activities involving multiple specialist subcontractors.

Experience within Data Centres, Mission Critical, Industrial, Pharmaceutical, Defence or major Commercial Construction environments would be particularly advantageous.

You’ll ideally demonstrate:

Significant experience managing construction delivery on major projects

Strong knowledge of construction sequencing, programming and site logistics

Experience coordinating complex structural, architectural and MEP packages

Excellent subcontractor management and stakeholder communication skills

Strong understanding of health, safety, quality and construction compliance

The ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and resolve complex site challenges

Relevant qualifications such as SMSTS, CSCS and a construction-related degree, HNC or equivalent experience

Previous data centre experience would be highly beneficial, although candidates from other technically complex construction sectors are strongly encouraged to apply.
