Job summary

Next Generation is recruiting an Assistant Data Cabling Engineer to join our established technology and engineering business in Redditch. The role supports installation, testing and maintenance of data and network infrastructure across commercial sites.

Ideal candidates will have around 2 years' experience in data cabling, hands-on experience with copper and fibre, and an understanding of cable testing and termination.

Qualifications

• Around 2 years' experience in data cabling or a related environment.
• Hands-on experience with copper and fibre cabling.
• Understanding of cable testing and termination.
• CSCS/ECS Card would be advantageous.
• IPAF/PASMA certification would be beneficial.
• Asbestos Awareness, Working at Height and Manual Handling training would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation, testing and termination of copper and fibre cabling.
• Support installation and commissioning of structured cabling and network infrastructure.
• Test and certify cabling using FLUKE equipment.
• Assist with installation, relocation and decommissioning of server racks and associated equipment.
• Identify and help resolve cable faults and network issues.
• Assist with installation and commissioning of wireless network solutions.
• Support the installation and commissioning of IP security and CCTV systems.
• Work alongside experienced engineers on customer sites.
• Complete site surveys, audits and associated documentation.
• Complete timesheets, expenses and daily job reports accurately and on time.
• Maintain high standards of Health & Safety at all times.

Salary: up to £32,000 depending on experience

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Data Cabling Engineer to join an established and growing technology and engineering business.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with around 2 years' experience within data cabling, structured cabling, networking or a similar environment, who is looking to further develop their technical skills and progress within the industry.

Working as part of an experienced engineering team, you will support the installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of data and network infrastructure across a variety of commercial and business sites.

Key Responsibilities for the Assistant Data Cabling Engineer:

• Assisting with the installation, testing and termination of copper and fibre cabling.
• Supporting the installation and commissioning of structured cabling and network infrastructure.
• Testing and certifying cabling using FLUKE testing equipment.
• Assisting with the installation, relocation and decommissioning of server racks and associated equipment.
• Identifying and helping to resolve cable faults and network issues.
• Assisting with the installation and commissioning of wireless network solutions.

• Some hands-on experience with copper and fibre cabling.
• An understanding of cable testing and termination.
• FLUKE testing experience would be advantageous.
• Good practical and technical ability.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop.
