Job summary

Chapter in Cardiff is seeking an Assistant Curator (Visual Art) to coordinate and deliver the 2027 exhibitions programme, and to work with artists and communities on a public engagement programme.

They will collaborate with the curatorial, engagement and marketing teams to ensure the visual arts programme is embedded across the wider multi‑artform programme and effectively communicated to audiences.

Job description

Contract: Fixed term maternity cover for eight months (subject to a three month probationary period), with the possibility of extension to ten months
Deadline: Monday 28 September, 9am
Interviews: Friday 2 October
Salary: £29,0162 (pro rata) – £17,410 actual salary
Hours: 24 hours per week (TOIL). Some weekend and evening work will be necessary.
Location: Candidates will be based in the office at Chapter in Cardiff but will be expected to spend time working outside of the venue. We offer a hybrid model which means that, when possible, you can also work from home.

Purpose of role

The Assistant Curator (Visual Art) will work with the Senior Curator to co-ordinate and deliver our 2027 exhibitions programme and work with artists and communities to design and manage a public engagement programme alongside these exhibitions.

They’ll work closely with other members of the curatorial, engagement and marketing teams to ensure that the visual arts programme is embedded in the wider multi-artform programme and communicated cohesively to audiences.
