Job summary

The British Film Institute (BFI) is seeking an experienced professional to identify, develop and deliver new audience facing opportunities for the Screencraft collections, with a focus on photographs, designs and graphic arts, reaching diverse audiences. You will join the Screencraft and Heritage Programmes teams to build engaging programming and track outcomes.

You will catalogue, digitise for exhibitions, support talks and study sessions, and ensure collections are embedded in vibrant

Responsibilities

• Catalogue, digitise and prepare works for transport, supporting talks and study sessions, embedding collections in programming.
• Support the Curator with research administration, digitisation and liaison with venues, agents and contractors.

Job description

Fixed Term Contract: until 31 March 2028

What you’ll do

• Identify, develop and deliver new audience facing opportunities for the BFI’s Screencraft collections (particularly photographs, designs and graphic arts), with specific attention to new and diverse audiences, ensuring alignment with cross programme delivery, lottery objectives and outcomes.
• Work with the Screencraft and Heritage Programmes teams to develop a portfolio of new and existing cultural, engagement and learning activities, tracking progress and supporting collections opportunities.
• Undertake a full range of collections responsibilities in relation to the project, including cataloguing, digitisation to aid exhibition and engagement support, as well as talks and study sessions. Ensuring collections are fully embedded in programming in vibrant and new ways
• Support the Curator with delivery against agreed objectives, including undertaking research administration, digitisation, preparing works for transport and liaising with venues, fine art agents and external contractors and venues.

What you’ll bring

• Experience of collections engagement work across multiple venues, this could include a museum, gallery, archive, library, community or educational spaces.
• Experience of working in a socially engaged way with public and sector audiences, artists, makers and communities
• Experience of co-generating and delivering new engagement strategies, with the ability to think and write creatively for audiences
• Experience of developing and supporting collections initiatives in external venues where developing and maintaining partnership with others was key to their success.
