Job summary

Currie & Brown in Manchester is seeking an Assistant Cost Manager to join our team and develop your career in cost management within a global consultancy. You will work with experienced professionals, supporting cost plans, reporting and procurement activities to deliver high-quality projects for a diverse client base.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or working towards one.
• Some experience in a quantity surveying or cost management role.
• Interest in pursuing professional membership with RICS.
• Good numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
• Willingness to learn CostX and other cost management software.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of cost plans, estimates and reports.
• Assist with cost management and financial control throughout the project lifecycle.
• Help prepare tender documentation and contract information.
• Help project leaders in delivering successful projects.
• Attend client, contractor and project meetings.
• Assist in the preparation of valuations and cost reporting.
• Help monitor project budgets and expenditure.
• Assist with procurement and tender evaluation activities.
• Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
• Build positive relationships with clients, colleagues and suppliers.
• Learn and apply industry best practice and company procedures.
• Contribute to the successful delivery of projects across a range of sectors.

What we’re looking for

• A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline, or are working towards completing one
• Some experience in a quantity surveying or cost management role, either through work placements or employment
• An interest in pursuing professional membership with RICS
• Good numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
• A willingness to learn new systems and technologies, including CostX and other cost management software
• Good report writing and organisational skills
• The ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
