Job summary

Cardiff Council is seeking an Assistant Cook to assist the Kitchen Manager with all catering operations within our schools. The role supports breakfast, lunch and therapeutic diets for pupils, working as part of a 500-strong team delivering meals across Cardiff.

The post is part-time, term-time (20 hours per week, 39 weeks per year) with an actual salary of £12,187, starting 1 September. DBS checks apply; Welsh or English applications welcome.

Cardiff Education Catering operates a service to circa 120 Secondary, Primary, and Special schools in Cardiff through 500 staff producing around 4 million meals per annum, providing breakfast, lunch and therapeutic diets for pupils, vending services and occasion catering for business meetings.

About the job

The Assistant Cook will be responsible for assisting the Kitchen Manager with all aspects of the business and service activities in the catering facility.

Additional information

Actual Salary: £12,187 per annum. This salary is based on working 20 hours per week and 39 weeks per year, rather than a full-time role of 37 hours per week and 52 weeks per year.

Please note: The salary shown assumes a start date of 1 September. If you start after 1 September, your salary for your first school year will be lower than the amount shown above because you will work fewer weeks.
