Job summary

Protocol Education is working with a Sunderland primary school to recruit an experienced Assistant Cook. You will work with the Cook in Charge to prepare, cook and serve meals, while upholding high hygiene and food safety standards in a busy school kitchen.

This role is 20 hours per week, term-time only, with weekly pay. The school values nutritious meals and a supportive, collaborative kitchen team, and you will have opportunities to contribute to menus and food presentation while safeguarding

Qualifications

• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene procedures.
• Food Hygiene qualification, or willingness to obtain one.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
• Passion for supporting children's wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and producing healthy meals in line with nutritional guidelines.
• Assisting with food preparation and cooking activities.
• Serving meals to pupils and staff.
• Following COSHH and HACCP procedures.
• Supporting stock control and kitchen administration.
• Setting up and clearing dining areas.
• Assisting with menu planning and food presentation.
• Deputising for the Cook in Charge when required.

Protocol Education is working alongside a welcoming and well-established primary school in Sunderland to recruit an experienced Assistant Cook. Located within a popular residential area, the school serves a thriving local community and benefits from excellent transport links from Sunderland, Seaham, Washington, Houghton-le-Spring and South Tyneside.

The Role

Working closely with the Cook in Charge, you will support the preparation, cooking and service of meals whilst maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene, safety and presentation.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
