Job summary

Salford City Council invites applications for an Assistant Cook to join a dedicated catering team. You will help ensure the food served is of a high standard and cover for the Cook Supervisor when needed, bringing supervisory experience in a commercial setting and a strong eye for presentation.

NVQ 2 in Catering or City & Guilds 706/2 is required and a Basic Hygiene certificate is desirable. This 30-hour-per-week role runs Mon-Fri, 8:30am–2:30pm, with generous benefits.

About the role

As an Assistant Cook you will work with a tight knit team to ensure that the food served is of a high standard. You would be responsible for ensuring that a quality catering service is maintained whilst covering for the absence of the Cook Supervisor. Supervisory experience within a commercial environment is essential together with a high standard of food presentation and excellent customer care skills. Possession of NVQ 2 in Catering or City and Guilds 706/2 in Catering qualification is required and a current Basic Hygiene certificate is desirable.
