Job summary

Serco Limited is seeking an Assistant Cook in Coventry to support the catering team in delivering nutritious meals safely and efficiently. You’ll work under the Head Cook to prepare diverse menus, including special diets, while maintaining high hygiene and quality standards.

The role focuses on safe food handling, record-keeping, and adherence to HACCP/COSHH guidelines in a large-scale catering setting. The position is full-time with 40 hours weekly on a 4-on/4-off shift pattern.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Food Safety qualification required.
• Level 2 Allergens in Catering qualification required.
• Experience in large-scale catering environment is essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Cook in preparing and cooking varied, nutritious menus including special diets.
• Support the delivery of catering services in line with Serco standards.
• Carry out food quality checks before, during and after meal service.
• Complete catering records to comply with HACCP, COSHH and food safety regulations.
