Job summary

Verdant Parks is seeking an Assistant Bar and Restaurant Manager to support daily operations at Heather View, Stanhope. You will lead front-of-house teams, supervise shifts, manage stock, and maintain service standards to deliver a memorable guest experience.

The role emphasises hands-on leadership, coaching a large Front of House team, and ensuring compliance with licensing and health & safety rules while driving sales and reducing waste.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and training bar and waiting teams.
• Oversee front of house operations in absence of manager.
• Maintain customer satisfaction with spot checks and feedback.
• Learn product range and upsell where appropriate.
• Organise staff rota to ensure adequate staffing at all times.
• Assist stock management and minimise waste while monitoring GP’s.
• Ensure Health & Safety and licensing requirements are followed.
• Keep the bar well stocked and cooperate with marketing efforts.
• Support promotions via social channels and marketing team.

Salary: £30,000 per annum

Hours:45 hours per week, over 5 days

You’ll be the go-to support for our Bar & Restaurant Manager, helping keep our food and drink service running smoothly and efficiently. You’ll lead by example, inspiring the team with a hands-on, friendly approach, and making sure every guest leaves with a smile.

Typical duties and responsibilities include:

• Assisting in recruiting and training the bar and waiting on teams.
• Oversee the front of house operations when the Bar & Restaurant Manager is absent.
• Ensure customer satisfaction is maintained - complete spot checks with customers.
• Being knowledgeable about our product range.
• Help the Bar & Restaurant Manager organise the staff rota ensuring that we are adequately resourced at all times.
• Assist with ongoing stock management, minimising waste, maintaining GP’s etc
• Careful management and implementation of all Health & Safety and legislative requirements.
• Ensure that the bar is well stocked at all times.
• Assist in the promotion of the venue via our Social Media channels and marketing team
• Ensure that our Health & Safety obligations are adhered to at all times.

About the Person: You should be passionate about hospitality, enjoy exceeding customer expectations, and have a hands-on attitude. You will need to have previous experience of managing a bar and restaurant and be able to demonstrate effective measures for reducing waste and increasing sales. You will also need to have previous experience with managing and developing a staff team and be able to demonstrate effective ways of motivating the team to achieve excellence.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a Supervisory or Assistant Manager role, be confident in leading and running shifts while engaging with guests, skilled at multitasking across the venue, training and coaching a large Front of House team, recruiting and developing staff, delivering excellent service including menu and allergen knowledge, resolving customer complaints quickly and cost-effectively, demonstrating a strong commitment to exceptional customer service, and possess good knowledge of licensing laws (a personal license is desirable), along with excellent communication skills.
