Job summary

Anglian Water Group Ltd. is seeking an Assistant Commissioning Engineer for a site-based, permanent role. You will support commissioning of new treatment works and systems, work with MCCs/PLCs, and help develop test procedures across water projects.

This role offers hands-on experience across project lifecycles, with a strong learning pathway, a focus on safety, reliability, and handover to Operations, plus a company-supported development plan.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) apprenticeship or equivalent technical background.
  • Electrical Engineering qualification (Level 3 or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of MCCs, PLCs, instrumentation and control systems.
  • Understanding of water or water recycling processes desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving and hands-on approach.

Responsibilities

  • Support commissioning of new treatment works and systems, ensuring assets are safe and ready for operation.
  • Assist in developing Commissioning Plans, documentation and test procedures.
  • Carry out FAT & SAT testing, including MCCs, PLCs, instrumentation and telemetry systems.

Working across capital projects and alongside our Alliance partners, we’re at the forefront of innovation, ensuring new treatment works and systems operate reliably, safely and efficiently from day one.What Will You Be Doing as an Assistant Commissioning Engineer?This is a hands-on, site-based role where you’ll support the delivery of commissioning activities across a range of exciting water and water recycling projects. You’ll work closely with experienced Commissioning Engineers, gaining exposure to the full project lifecycle while building the skills needed to progress into a Commissioning Engineer role.Key responsibilities include:• Supporting the commissioning of new treatment works and systems, ensuring assets are safe, reliable and ready for operation• Assisting in the development of Commissioning Plans, documentation and test procedures• Carrying out factory and site acceptance testing (FAT & SAT), including "Motor Control Cubicle (MCC's) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), instrumentation and telemetry systems• Supporting dry and wet commissioning activities and optimisation of treatment processes• Assisting with fault finding and troubleshooting automated control systems• Helping to produce handover documentation, ensuring all assets meet required standards before transfer to Operations• Working closely with construction, design and operational teams to integratecommissioning with project delivery• Supporting training of operational teams on new assets and systemsThis role offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience across cutting-edge infrastructure projects while contributing to essential services for our customers.What Does It Take to Be an Assistant Commissioning Engineer?We’re looking for someone with a strong technical foundation and a passion for learning and developing in an engineering environment:• Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) apprenticeship or equivalent technical background• Electrical Engineering qualification (Level 3 or equivalent)• Knowledge of MCCs, PLCs, instrumentation and control systems• Understanding of water or water recycling processes (desirable)• Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, hands-on approach• Good IT skills and ability to work with technical documentation• Full UK driving licence• A proactive attitude with a strong willingness to learn and developWhy Anglian Water?Our people are at the heart of everything we do.
