As an Assistant Chef at Sovereign Lodge Care Home, you’ll have passion and dedication when it comes to caring for others. You will have the required knowledge and experience, along with the appropriate level 2/3 catering qualifications, or be working towards them, and possess the right values and behaviours to work in our residential care service.

More about the role

Duties as an Assistant Chef are varied, and no two days will be the same in the home’s busy kitchen. You will prepare, cook, and serve hot and cold meals, providing for special dietary requirements where necessary for residents. Reporting to the Head Chef, you will plan and cost menus, maintain accurate records, and manage the correct orders of food supplies.

You will also check deliveries and ensure all crockery and equipment are cleaned and stored appropriately, and that the kitchen, dining areas, including equipment, are cleaned to statutory Health and Safety standards.

Ideally, we are looking for someone with Level 2 or Level 3 catering qualification or equivalent, or a commitment to undertake further training and development relevant to the role.
