Job summary

Advinia in Oxford Manor Care Home is seeking a Chef to lead the day-to-day kitchen operations, crafting varied meals for Residents, Staff and Visitors and delivering a friendly, professional dining service.

Working 40 hours a week at £14.50 per hour, you’ll help plan menus for events, manage stock and hygiene, and support a great work-life balance with two days off. Free parking, wellbeing support and career development are among the benefits offered.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • GCSE English or equivalent required.
  • City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (or equivalent) in basic food preparation.
  • Basic Food Hygiene certification required.
  • Previous experience in a similar environment preferred.
  • Menu planning, costing, ordering, stock control and budgeting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day running of the kitchen.
  • Maintain food storage procedures and stock rotation.
  • Prepare and cook meals to high standard, respecting dietary requirements.
  • Serve Residents, Staff and Visitors with food and beverages professionally.
  • Prepare and produce foods for events.
  • Participate in food costings through cost control.
  • Adhere to Safer Food Better Business standards and record keeping.
  • Follow Food Hygiene Regulations and safety procedures at all times.
  • Take full shift responsibility for the catering operation.
  • Assist in creating new menus with high quality meals.
  • File HACCP paperwork (fridge temps, logs, cleaning schedules).

From World Food Day to festive moments like Christmas and Easter, you get to add your own flair and keep things exciting, we have four weekly themed events as well as Resident choice menus.

As a Chef you will be:
  • Responsible for the day-to-day running of the kitchen. 
  • Maintaining good food storage procedures and stock rotation according to established procedures.
  • Preparing, planning and cooking meals to a consistently high standard, taking account of any special requests or dietary requirements within the unit.
  • Serving Residents, Staff and Visitors with food and beverage in a professional and courteous services manner.
  • Preparing and producing foods for events.
  • Participating in food costings through effective cost control procedures.
  • Adhering to the ‘Safer Food Better Business’ standards and record keeping.
  • Adhering to Food Hygiene Regulations and other safety procedures at all times.
  • Taking full shift responsibility for the catering operation
  • Help to create new menus ensuring meals are of a high quality.
  • Correctly filing of all paperwork in relation to the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point system (HACCP) i.e. Fridge temperatures, food temperature logs and cleaning schedules
To be successful in this role, you'll need:
  • To be 18 years or older
  • GCSE or equivalent English
  • City & Guilds 706/1 and 2 (or equivalent) Basic Food Preparation Cooking
  • Basic Food Hygiene (essential)
  • Intermediate Food hygiene (desirable)
  • Previous experience in a similar environment
  • Menu planning, costing, ordering, stock control and budget experience
